Visual Arts existed as a major study area at the College since 1949. Concentration was upon the training of teachers until 1975; from that date the BA Creative Arts degree was added to the existing BEd degree.
Fashion and Textiles were established at Bretton Hall in 1962, originally to provide a two year training for teachers of needle-craft.
