Ai Weiwei’s Iron Tree

During the afternoon of 9th May, 2015,  Richard Flowerday – alumnus of Bretton Hall, and YSP heritage volunteer – once again led alumni on an historical tour of the environment.   One of his visits was to St. Bartholomew’s Chapel – recently renovated.   The £500,000 restoration of the chapel was supported by English Heritage, eleven other major charities, and generous donations from visitors.

On this occasion, alumni were able to admire Ai Weiwei’s internationally-renowned Iron Tree  – a majestic six-metres high sculpture, displayed in the chapel courtyard.

Upon entering the chapel, Richard’s group enjoyed the current exhibition of Venetian sculptural forms and colourful glass images  by Laura de Santillana and Alessandro Diaz de Santillana – siblings from the Venini Glassware Dynasty.
